“Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid
Write a piece in which an someone gives advice to someone else who is younger or inexperienced or subservient. You can structure the piece like a list. The list should reveal something about the narrator’s character, the listener’s character, and the values of the culture they live in. Give the piece a simple title referring to the listener (and the focus of the advice). You might also incorporate words that you know well but that some audiences might not know.
